A lot of searching for a job is purely a matter of communication. You have to tell people who you are, what you do, where you going, and why you need to go there. Sounds basic enough, but here's the catch: you have a value on a gnat's sneeze time to say all this information.Yeah, that sounds harsh. But that's the truth of the matter. So what can you do? The most practical way to communicate all this information is to create what in terms of job search is called "30 second speech," or "elevator speech", so named because you should be able to deliver in when you're riding in an elevator with someone. Such statements typically sound something like this: "My name is Steve Jensen. My experience is mainly on account management and sales of heavy equipment. In these positions, I have been largely responsible for managing, motivating and directing sales staff. Now 'm looking for a position that lets me build on that experience, preferably in a sales management position or management of the territory to a manufacturer of industrial goods.
