The Library as a Job Search Resource
A lot of searching for a job is purely a matter of communication. You have to tell people who you are, what you do, where you going, and why you need to go there. Sounds basic enough, but here's the catch: you have a value on a gnat's sneeze time to say all this information.Yeah, that sounds harsh. But that's the truth of the matter. So what can you do? The most practical way to communicate all this information is to create what in terms of job search is called "30 second speech," or "elevator speech", so named because you should be able to deliver in when you're riding in an elevator with someone. Such statements typically sound something like this: "My name is Steve Jensen. My experience is mainly on account management and sales of heavy equipment. In these positions, I have been largely responsible for managing, motivating and directing sales staff. Now 'm looking for a position that lets me build on that experience, preferably in a sales management position or management of the territory to a manufacturer of industrial goods. "How to Make Your 30-Second speech EffectiveIntroduce YourselfSounds more obvious, but this is a discourse that 'll often given to strangers. And most people need as you even before you consider helping you. So they know who they are, shake hands and be gentle when giving the speech. RehearseMost people get at least a little stressed when meeting people. And when stressed, people tend to forget things. So practice your speech until you can recite without errors. Automatic.Make It is necessary NaturalOkay, this may sound like a contradiction, but it's a fine line between what is automatic and it sounds like a recording. His speech of 30 seconds to the needs of a fresh sound, gentle and natural. It should never sound like something to memorize. Start by writing the speech in the language you actually speak in. For example, note that my example above uses the contraction "which will" instead of "that". Try different things, see how they work, then adjust the speech until the wheel of his mouth like you're saying that the top of his head like any other ShortIt not conversation.Keep called a 30 second speech for nothing. And 30 seconds is the maximum time you will. You're giving this to people who have never known, and not sure they care enough about you to offer any help. Not boring. Stick to the basics: what you do, what you did and what we're trying to do multiple VersionsSometimes next.Do not even get 30 seconds to give the speech. For example, if you're calling someone you've never seen before, may be too busy and too impatient to sit through that background noise much of someone who does not know. For such occasions, to make a short version. For the example above, could be something like: "Hi my name is Steve Jensen. My experience is mainly on account management and sales of heavy equipment, and now I'm interested in pursuing a position in sales management. "Keeping these methods in mind and would improve significantly the outcomes of job search network. If nothing else, you get a ton of confidence, which is one of the most valuable things of all in a job search.

Tips on Saving Money During the Credit Crunch
I enjoy working on craft projects of many kinds, and the first time I entered Michael's in Valparaiso Indiana I knew I was in trouble. I was overwhelmed by the vast amount of craft supplies and unique home décor in this massive store, and I knew I'd want countless items I wouldn't be able to afford. After shopping for just a short time I began thinking of all the crafts I could create, and I was in craft project heaven. I was especially drawn to the aisle with the polymer clay and bead making supplies since my good friend Secretsides had recently taught me the fine art of making beautiful polymer clay beads. Secretsides uses a pasta machine to roll and blend the polymer clay, and I wanted that handy little gadget to make bead making easier than blending and rolling the clay by hand. Be sure to take a look at her article on bead making. She included pictures of her pasta machine. The pasta machine was about $25, and after picking up dozens of packages of polymer clay at $1.79 each and the tools I needed, I really couldn't add more to my costly purchase. My friend Secretsides had given me a tip on saving money at Michael's, and it was a tip that would end up saving me a considerable amount of money, but I had to be patient.Coupons!Did you know that Michael's periodically includes half-off coupons in their fliers? I was surprised to find out I could get the pasta machine I wanted for making polymer clay beads for half the regular price, and I patiently waited to buy my pasta machine. Michael's recently printed another half-off coupon in a Sunday sale ad, and I used it to purchase a large assortment of glass beads. After finding out that Michael's periodically offers these money-saving coupons I always scan their sale ads. A die-hard crafter can definitely save a great deal of money with the coupons provided by Michael's. Give Me More!My mother isn't interested in crafting and doesn't shop at Michael's, so I always take her sale ads that contain half-off coupons. If you're serious about saving money on the high-ticket items you want from Michael's and don't have a free source for a second Sunday paper, invest in an extra newspaper or two.
